Dental wiring braces treatment or Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth with the help of braces or wires, to improve the appearance of the teeth and how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of your teeth, gums and jaw joints, by spreading the biting pressure over all your teeth.

A typical treatment for incorrectly positioned teeth (malocclusion) takes about 1 to 3 years to complete, with braces being altered slightly every 4 to 10 weeks by the specialists called orthodontists.The time required for braces varies from person to person, depending on the severity of the problem; the amount of room available; the distance the teeth must travel; the health of the teeth, gums, and supporting bone; and how closely the patient follows instructions.

Braces treatment appliances

Orthodontic therapy can include the use of fixed or removable appliances. The majority of orthodontic therapy is delivered using appliances that are fixed in place, for example with braces that are bonded to the teeth with adhesives. Fixed appliances can have a greater mechanical control of the teeth and the treatment outcome is greater with the use of fixed appliances.

• Teeth can slowly be moved and shifted into proper position by applying pressure in certain directions. Bands, wires and elastics are placed on the teeth to move them in the right direction. This takes place slowly and carefully over an extended period of time.
• Shifting teeth back into a functional position can take months to years, but eventually you’ll have a new and improved mouth!
• Retainers are often used after the braces, to hold the teeth in their new position until they are stable.
• It is important to wear the braces or an appliance for however long it takes. If you quit at any point during treatment, the teeth can shift back into their old position

What are invisible braces?

The term “invisible braces” refers to any type of short-term orthodontic system that is less easily noticed than traditional braces. It also typically refers to systems such as Invisalign® that are used to correct cosmetic problems with front teeth.

Among the many brands of invisible braces, there are three kinds from which users can choose: ceramic, lingual, and clear aligners.
